We have finished the wudu and salah portion of our lessons, alhamdullilah. We will still be working on perfecting our salah as students still need to learn all the components/details (ayatul kursi, durood shareef, duas, etc.) However we will be working on that throughout the year alongside our usual lessons. Now we will be moving onto The pillars of Iman, and delving deep into each pillar. After we finish this unit, we will have an exam on wudu, salah, and the pillars of iman. More details on the exam will come soon In sha Allah.
We are also wokring on the Seerah Book. In sha Allah next week we will start lesson 4.
Keep up the great work students!

Assalamualaikum,
A few parents have asked me questions regarding our class and I thought I would share my answers with you all as it may be beneficial.
It may be confusing as to why I am starting out of order, but I want to focus on prayer in the beginning of the year, rather than later on (as it is such an important topic). This lesson may seem long, but that is because I am focusing on students also memorizing dua in prayer, durood shareef, tashahud, etc. Alongside, I am teaching students duas so that they can use it on a daily basis. I also want to focus on their reading, writing, and public speaking skills, so I ask them to do readings, journal entries, and discussions (we will be doing presentations in the future as well). Besides We Are Muslim Textbook readings, we also read from the Seerah Book. Lastly, we focus on Quran and Arabic (Arabic is usually every other week). I try to incorporate fun activities and always end with a review game to reinforce material.
What we did today:
1. Dua Review
2. Lesson 16 Review
3. Foldable Prayer activity review
4. Lesson 17 Reading
5. Quran
6. Break
7. Seerah book + Discussion

Asslamualaikum!
Welcome students and parents to the 2017-2018 academic school year! On this page I will be posting a short summary of what the students accomplished during the day.
Students first started off the day by reading Quran with Brother Usman. After Quran class, students reviewed the Arabic alphabet and glued a reference sheet in their composition notebooks. It is strongly encouraged that students practice their Arabic alphabet during the week days whenever they find time. Afterwards, students had snack and break time. Then, students read chapter one from the Seerah book of the Prophet. I quizzed them verbally on key words from the chapter. After the lesson, students reviewed the Dua for knowledge as a class. To end the school day, students helped create sticker trees. The sticker trees will serve as a reward system for students who are well behaved, participate in class, do their homework assignments, etc.
See you next week class, Inshallah!

Students then had a small discussion about their Ramadan goals. After this, students had Quran class. Then students had a lecture on why Muslims fast. Students will be finishing this activity next class Inshallah. Here is a sample I created:

Assalamualaikum,
Students read lessons 3, 4, 5, and 6 from the Prophet Muhammad (sws) textbook as a class. Most of this was review, so I verbally quizzed the students on the main concepts in class. Last semester we focused on how to pray, this semester I would like to focus on the importance of dua. Every class I am encouraging students to learn a new (small) dua. Last class students learned about proper habits and duas before eating and sleeping. Today students learned the dua for parents. Soon we will be creating a dua book Inshallah so students can review these duas on their own time. Afterwards students had Quran class. Lastly students practiced Arabic writing.

Assalamualaikum,
Today students played a review game at the beginning of the class and then they took the quiz. Some of the students did not have Iman Mufassal memorized. This was worth 10 points on the quiz, so if the students did not have it memorized, I will be retesting them next week (this will help them improve their grade!). Afterwards, students did a couple of workbook assignments (a lot of catch up since some students have not been completing their homework). Then students had Quran Class. During Quran students were tested for the Quran Competition. Brother Usman is the Quran teacher so he has all the details and information regarding the Quran Competition. If you have any questions, you can visit this website to find his contact information:

Lastly students played review games to help refresh their memory!

Today students started off the day finishing their homework assignments and sharing their lesson summaries. Afterwards, students worked on their projects. Students were assigned to "teach" the class what they had learned from the chapter assigned. The chapters assigned were 9-12, so this project served as a review for the students. Then students had Quran, where they were tested for the Quran Competition (first round). Afterwards, we went over the study guide for the Lessons 9-12 quiz. Unfortunately the printer at ADAMS was not working so I could not send copies home. I will be sending the study guide and answer key through email Inshallah.

Students spent the first half hour finishing their workbook assignments and reviewing chapters 9-12. We will be having an exam on these chapters in the near future (update will be sent out soon Inshallah). Afterwards students were tested on Iman Mufassal, only three students have it memorized (Shane, Faizaan, and Sameeha). Please encourage your children to memorize Iman Mufassal, as they will be tested on it again next week. Then students had Quran class. After Quran, students were assigned a certain chapter (either 9,10,11, or 12). Each group started working on creating small presentations on each chapter to present/teach their classmates. I hope that Inshallah this will be a fun and creative way for students to learn more about the material they will be tested on.
Important announcement:
Students will be tested next class on Surah At-Tin and Surah Al-Qadr. Students will then be picked by Brother Usman so that they can compete in the next level of the Quran competition.
Good Luck students, Inshallah you will all do awesome!

Today we started off with Journal Entry #2. Students wrote about an issue in their community that they care about. Students brainstormed ideas on why this issue is important and also thought of some solutions. Afterwards, students worked on practicing wudu. Students were split into groups, and each group presented the steps of wudu. Next week students will be presenting the steps of Salat in groups as well, Inshallah. This way each student is able to learn the steps by watching other students present, and then when they are presenting to other students, it reinforces their memory! Then students worked on Quran memorization.
Afterwards, we went back to the journal entry topic, and I created groups for students to discuss their ideas. Each group came to a consensus and chose a topic to present on. We will be working next week on finishing the projects and students will be presenting as well Inshallah!
Here are the presentation guidelines:
Here are the topics the groups chose:
Group 1. Deforestation
Group 2. Endangered Animals/caring for animals
Group 3. Waste (wasting food and water/conservation)
This presentation will be a great way for students to work together in groups, develop presentation skills, and help students become more interested and passionate about these issues. Students are so excited about this project, and I can't wait to see their presentations!
If they have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me, and of course, I will be helping them prepare on Saturday as well.
Good Luck!

Good Luck!

I hope everyone is doing great Inshallah! Today, as always, we started off with a bellringer! The students are working hard on learning our Arabic letters and connecting words. They did a worksheet on the letter "ت ". Then, we moved onto Islamic Studies. We read chapter 19 which is on Witr and Nafl Prayers. After reading, we played a group trivia game. Students were divided into groups and answered questions on the past few chapters that we have been reading. Then students read Quran with Brother Usman. Afterwards, we all read together from the Seerah Book. We read chapter 2 and had a great class discussion.
Looking ahead, please keep these dates in mind:
· Dec. 3rd – Lesson/review day
· Dec. 10th – Exam day
· Dec. 17th – Parent/Teacher Conference day
Congratulations to Huda and Shane for being the top two winners for Prayer Logs! Also Congratulations to Ayaan for winning the journal entry competition. Keep up the great work everyone! :)

The first task for today was connecting Arabic letters. For their warm up activity, students traced letters and connected words on their own. Many of the students still do not know their Arabic alphabet, so next class we will be testing the students to see where they currently are, and then we will be making groups to help cater to the students level. Afterwards, students had Quran Class with Brother Usman. Then the students read together from the Sirah of the Prophet Muhammad (sws) textbook. We worked together to learn a lot of new vocabulary as well as geography from the Sirah Book! Lastly, we reviewed the steps of Salah. Great job everyone!
Congratulations to Yusuf and Sama for being the top two who completed their prayer logs!

Assalamualaikum!
Today students started off the day by doing the bell ringer. Students were asked to work on page 63 in the workbook ("How Many Prayers?".) Then students worked on small activities. The first activity was the Steps of Salah. The students cut out the steps and put them in order on construction paper. The next activity was on Arabic reading/writing. Students were given one of the names of Allah (swt), and were asked to trace, color, and read it in groups. Afterwards, we did a review on last week's lesson (Salah). The class did a "practice prayer" together, and went over all the steps in detail. The last portion of the class students either took their quizzes that they missed, or they went off to "Reading Buddies". This week's story was on Prophet Nuh (alayhis salam).
Congratulations to Ajrin, Huda, Zayan, and Yusuf for being the top four who completed their prayer logs! Great work :)
*I have graded the quizzes and returned them to the students

Hope everyone is doing well Inshallah. Today students started off by doing the bellringer/warm up activity. Students worked on page 56 in the workbook, which focused on preparing for Salah. Afterwards, we read over Chapter 16 and then we briefly went over chapter 17 as well (Tayammum). Then we started the Salah unit by going over in detail the different prayers, how many rakahs are prayed, as well as the specific order they are prayed in. Students wrote done this information in their spiral notebooks, so they can use this information to help them in their homework activity (pg 62 in workbook). Students then read Quran with Brother Usman. After break, students learned about the steps of Salah. I will be going over this chapter again in detail, as we learned a lot of information today! Then with the remaining time, students took their quiz. I will be grading the quizzes this week and be returning the grades on Saturday Inshallah.
*As a good amount of students have missed class, I will be reviewing a lot of the material again, so don't worry if your child was not able to make it to class. It would be great however, if students read through the material so they have a good understanding of it. Also, I will be passing out quizzes next class to those who missed class, so be prepared inshallah!
Congratulations to Huda and Shane for being the top two who filled out their prayer logs!

Assalamualaikum Everyone!
Today was a great day, as the students were very productive Mashallah. Today we started off the day by gluing in an Arabic Alphabet reference sheet into our notebooks. Afterwards, we proceeded on with the lesson and learned about Arabic Vowels (Fatha, Kasra, Damma). Then I asked students to come up to the board and connect letters together to form simple words. After our Arabic Writing Lesson, students worked on memorizing Surahs. Then, I briefly went over the study guide questions, and asked students to complete it for homework.
In the last activity, students joined 2nd Grade for "Reading Buddies". Students loved this activity! Each 3rd grade student had two 2nd grade partners. Each group read together the story of Prophet Adam (alaihis salam) and answered questions in their group. This activity really helped ensure confidence in 3rd grade students, and helped them understand the material better as they were explaining it to the 2nd grade students.
Great job 3rd Grade, Mashallah!

I hope everyone is having a great week inshallah! Today we reviewed the Arabic Alphabet and did workbook page 5 (Human Needs vs Human Wants) as our warm up activity. Afterwards, students reviewed Surahs with Brother Usman. Then, students read Chapter 3 together, which is "Obedience to Allah (swt) and to Rasulullah (sws)". We went over key vocabulary words (page 15) and did a group/class quiz on the lesson as well. Lastly, we joined with 2nd grade to start a new project. Every other week, students will be joined with a partner(s) to do interactive Islamic Studies Activities. I will go into detail about this project this coming Saturday Inshallah.
I also graded all the workbook activities/worksheets that students have done up to date. Please look over your child's workbook to see how your child is doing. If your child has not completed an assignment, please encourage them to do so. This will benefit them greatly Inshallah. Also, please make sure to check the "homework" tab, to see the assignments.
Thank you so much for your cooperation!

I hope everyone is doing well inshallah. Today was a busy day! Students started off by doing the "warm up" activity, which was to work on page 2 and 3 in the We Are Muslims workbook. Afterwards, we spent some time going over the arabic alphabet. Some students could not remember the arabic alphabet, so if your child has free time they can revise the alphabet by using this website: https://quizlet.com/227217/arabic-alphabet-flash-cards/ . This is a great tool to learn the letters, as there are flashcards and different games as well.
After revising the Arabic Alphabet, the class read together chapter two. The students learned key vocabulary words, which are listed in the last page of the chapter. Lastly we went over the five different prayers and wudhu. Students learned how to do wudhu and will be making a wudhu booklet next class Inshallah to help them remember the steps.
Please check the third grade homework tab to see the assignments.

ASSALAMUALAIKUM!
I am so pleased to teach 3rd grade Saturday School this year, Alhamdullilah! In this page I will be writing a brief summary of what we went over in class. All the homework assignments are listed in the "3rd grade Homework" tab.
On our first day, the students introduced themselves and did various ice breaker activities to get to know each other. Afterwards we read chapter one from the We Are Muslims textbook. Students were asked to come up with mini skits to demonstrate the key ideas listed at the end of the chapter. To enforce the skills learned from the lesson, we also played "taboo"/"charades" using the key vocabulary words.
Great job everyone, Mashallah!
